3 mercenary killers arrested in Nijjar murder, Further Straining India-Canada Relations

A new twist has emerged in the death of Khalistani separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Canadian police have arrested three suspects, all of whom are said to be Indian nationals. The arrested individuals have been identified as Karan Barar (22), Kamalpreet Singh (22), and Karanpreet Singh (28). All three have reportedly been residents of Albert Edmonton for about three to five years.

The incident, known as the Hardeep Singh Nijjar Murder Case, is expected to further strain relations between India and Canada. The Ministry of External Affairs is closely monitoring the situation. However, the development is not being viewed favorably.

Canadian police have stated that the three arrested individuals have been charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder. They emphasized that the arrests were made based on specific information. Additionally, the police claimed that the three are members of the organization responsible for Nijjar’s death, alleging that India had given responsibility to that organization.

In 2023, Khalistani separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar was mysteriously killed outside a Gurdwara in British Columbia, Canada. Canada has accused the Indian government of involvement in the incident. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed that an Indian agency was behind the killing and asserted having specific evidence, although none was provided to India. India has denied any involvement, as clarified by the Ministry of External Affairs. Despite this, Canada continues to blame India for the incident and has even expelled several diplomats. In response, India has taken corresponding measures.
