India proceeded with their revenge by defeating England for an idle 103 runs and advancing to Sunday’s final to face South Africa. India easily won by 68 runs thanks to three wickets apiece from Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav.
India defeated England 171/7 in a rain-shortened game led by captain Rohit Sharma’s scorching 57. The next highest scorer, Suryakumar Yadav, finished with 47 runs. At the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, the Men in Blue lost two wickets in the powerplay as Reece Topley stunned India early by dismissing Virat Kohli for just nine runs and Sam Curran dismissed Rishabh Pant for only four runs.
England won the toss and opted to bowl first against India. England made a decent start to the run chase, but Axar Patel dismantled them. The left-arm spinner picked up three wickets and put them on the backfoot. Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav also got three wickets.
England was bowled out for a paltry 103 runs as India booked their third final in the T20 World Cup. Rohit Sharma’s men will now take on South Africa in the final on Saturday (June 29).
