Female SpiceJet Employee Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting CISF Official

A SpiceJet employee found herself embroiled in controversy after an altercation with a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) assistant sub inspector at Jaipur airport led to her arrest. The incident, captured on CCTV, unfolded around 4 am when the employee, identified as Anuradha Rani, was reportedly stopped by assistant sub inspector Giriraj Prasad for attempting to enter through a gate without proper authorization.

According to CISF officials, Ms. Anuradha, who was accompanied by other staff members, was directed to undergo the mandatory security screening for airline crew at an alternate entrance. However, no female CISF personnel were available at the screening point at that time, escalating tensions between the parties involved.

The situation reportedly worsened when the assistant sub inspector insisted on a female colleague completing the screening process, prompting a heated argument. The confrontation reached a boiling point when Ms. Anuradha allegedly slapped the assistant sub inspector, an act captured by surveillance cameras at the airport.

Jaipur airport station house officer Ram Lal described the incident as regrettable, noting that police have registered a case against Ms. Anuradha under sections 121 (1) and 132 of Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertain to voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty and assaulting a public servant, respectively.

In response to the allegations, a SpiceJet spokesperson issued a statement asserting that Ms. Anuradha possessed a valid airport entry pass issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), India’s aviation security regulator. The airline further alleged that the CISF personnel had used inappropriate language and made unwelcome advances towards Ms. Anuradha, including inviting her to meet outside duty hours.

“SpiceJet is treating this incident with utmost seriousness and has initiated legal action against the alleged sexual harassment faced by our female employee,” stated the spokesperson. “We stand firmly behind our employee and are committed to providing her with full support throughout this ordeal.”

The incident has sparked discussions about security protocols at airports and the handling of disputes between airline staff and security personnel. Authorities are investigating the matter further to ascertain the sequence of events leading up to the altercation.

As the investigation progresses, both the CISF and SpiceJet are expected to provide additional statements regarding their respective positions on the incident, which has garnered significant attention within the aviation industry and beyond.
