Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh, two Indian shooters, made Olympic history on Tuesday by winning a bronze medal in the mixed team 10m mix air pistol shooting event. This was India’s first-ever medal in a shooting team event and their sixth overall in the Olympics.
Manu Bhaker became the first athlete from independent India to win two medals in a single Olympic Games as a result of the outcome. Manu Bhaker won an Olympic medal in shooting on Sunday, making history as the first Indian woman to do so.
Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh won the bronze medal match at the National Shooting Center in Chateauroux, defeating Oh Ye Jin and Wonho Lee of the Republic of Korea 16–10. In the women’s 10m air pistol competition on Sunday, Oh Ye Jin took home the gold medal.
Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh advanced to the bronze medal match on Monday after finishing third in the qualifying round, behind Sevval Ilayda Tarhan-Yusuf Dikec of Turkiye and Zorana Arunovic-Damir Mikec of Serbia. Serbia defeated Turkiye 16–14 to win the gold medal.
