Some districts of South Bengal may experience heavy rain on Wednesday and Thursday. However, scattered light to moderate rain will continue in all the districts, said the weather office.
Heavy rain is likely in some districts of South Bengal for the next few days, Alipur Meteorological Department said. Rain with thunder will continue in most of the districts. Meteorologists have warned that the heavy rains may cause traffic problems, traffic jams and road inundation. Rains will decrease slightly in North Bengal.
Alipur Meteorological Office said scattered thundershowers may occur over North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, East Burdwan, West Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad and Nadia on Monday. Scattered rain is likely in all districts of South Bengal on Tuesday. Kolkata is also in the list. Rains may increase in some districts from Wednesday.
Heavy rain is likely over Hooghly, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, East Medinipur, East Burdwan and West Burdwan on Wednesday. Besides Hooghly, two Burdwans, Birbhum and Nadia are likely to experience heavy rain on Thursday. Apart from this, light to moderate rains have been reported in all the southern districts. However, Alipur has not issued a warning anywhere else.
The probability of rain in North Bengal is comparatively less. Heavy rain is likely in Kalimpong and Alipurduar on Wednesday, the weather office said. But there is no warning in any other district. Scattered light to moderate rain may occur in some districts. The weather office has issued a warning that landslides may occur in the hilly areas of Darjeeling and Kalimpong. The administration has been asked to be vigilant in that regard.
Kolkata’s minimum temperature on Monday was 28 degrees Celsius, 1.2 degrees above normal. The maximum temperature in the city on Sunday was 31.1 degrees Celsius, 1.3 degrees below normal.
