On September 14, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert due to the probability of severe downpours across West Bengal and Odisha. Meanwhile, Jharkhand is under orange alert.
A “depression” warning was issued by the Meteorological Department. IMD issued a flash flood warning and heavy rainfall alert in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh after observing a “well marked low pressure area” over northwest Uttar Pradesh and the surrounding area.
Kolkata
Significant downpours battered regions in southern West Bengal, including Kolkata, on Saturday as a depression deepened throughout the night, according to authorities.
They added that in the morning, the weather system was over Bangladesh and the nearby Gangetic West Bengal.
Uttarakhand
On September 14, the IMD issued a heavy rainfall prediction for Uttarakhand, stating that most places will likely see light to moderate rainfall, a few would likely see heavy to very heavy rainfall, and a few will likely see extremely heavy rainfall.
Himachal Pradesh
The weather agency issued a flash flood warning for Sirmour and Shiomla areas. The danger of surface runoff and flooding was mentioned by IMD in its most recent meteorological bulletin, dated September 13, “at certain fully saturated soils and low-lying areas over AoC following rainfall on September 14.”
Uttar Pradesh
On September 14, “light to moderate rainfall at most places” and “heavy rainfall at isolated places” are predicted for Uttar Pradesh.
Haryana
On September 14, the weather department predicted that “light to moderate rainfall at isolated places is very likely with heavy rainfall at isolated places.”
“Isolated very heavy rainfall very likely over East Madhya Pradesh on September 17; Chhattisgarh on September 16,” states the press release from IMD. It continues, “There is a good chance of isolated heavy rainfall over West Madhya Pradesh on September 18 and 19, East Madhya Pradesh on September 16 and 19, and Chhattisgarh on September 14 and 17.”
Yellow Alert in Delhi
The Delhi Regional Meteorological Centre issued a yellow signal and forecast a typically cloudy sky with light rain and thundershowers during the day. After September 14, there won’t likely be any further wet spells. It’s likely that another round of rain will start on September 18. On Saturday, the national capital is predicted to have a maximum temperature of about 32 degrees Celsius and a low temperature of about 21 degrees Celsius.
