After going without a wicket in the first innings, Ashwin finished with 88 for 6. With great assistance from Ravindra Jadeja (3/58). Jadeja currently has 299 wickets in Test cricket. India produced an incredible recovery on Day 1 after getting bowled out for 144 by Bangladesh. To get India out of the jam, the spin duo Ashwin and Jadeja put up a 199-run seventh-wicket stand.
India dismissed Bangladesh for 149 runs in a one and a half-hour session, captained by Jasprit Bumrah. Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant combined for 167 runs for the fourth wicket on Day 3 to put India ahead of the pack. However, India chose not to use the follow-on.
