India Seal Huge 280 Runs Victory over Bangladesh at Chennai

After going without a wicket in the first innings, Ashwin finished with 88 for 6. With great assistance from Ravindra Jadeja (3/58). Jadeja currently has 299 wickets in Test cricket. India produced an incredible recovery on Day 1 after getting bowled out for 144 by Bangladesh. To get India out of the jam, the spin duo Ashwin and Jadeja put up a 199-run seventh-wicket stand.

India dismissed Bangladesh for 149 runs in a one and a half-hour session, captained by Jasprit Bumrah. Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant combined for 167 runs for the fourth wicket on Day 3 to put India ahead of the pack. However, India chose not to use the follow-on. Pant scored 100 runs off of 124 balls, hitting four sixes and thirteen fours. After hitting his fifth century in 161 balls, Gill finished undefeated.

Day 4: Shakib Al Hasan and Najmul Shanto, the captains of Bangladesh’s overnight batters, applied themselves admirably to withstand Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj’s initial burst. But things changed immediately after the drinks break when Ashwin came introduced. With three more wickets from Jadeja and his 37th five-wick haul from Ashwin, Bangladesh’s tail ended swiftly. Najmul received a rotten 82. Beginning on September 27, the second Test of the two-match series will take place in Kanpur.
