At the Kingsmead Cricket Ground in Durban, star Indian batsman Sanju Samson, who appeared to have trouble staying consistent with the bat, hammered his second T20I century in the opening match against South Africa.
Throughout his career, Samson had trouble establishing himself with the Indian team, but he now appears to have found his spot at the head of the order under Suryakumar Yadav’s guidance.
He repeated an equally impressive knock in Durban after his incredible century in Hyderabad, smashing a century in just 47 deliveries to give India the ideal start to their batting innings. Tilak Varma and Surykumar had both made brief appearances, but Sanju was the one who was able to effortlessly and beautifully clear the ropes.
Samson became the fourth batter in T20 international history to score hundreds in a row. such as Gustav McKeon of France, Phil Salt of England, and Rilee Rossouw of South Africa.
His 47-ball century is the sixth fastest century made by an Indian in the T20I format, and his exquisite knock has also earned him a place in the record books. Rohit Sharma, the former captain of India, currently holds the record after he smashed a hundred runs off of 35 balls against Sri Lanka in 2017.
Alongside Rohit Sharma, Sanju currently holds the record for the most sixes struck in a T20I innings. As was already established, Rohit smashed ten maximums in the innings against Sri Lanka, and Samson followed suit with ten of his own sixes.
