Arvind Kejriwal : Delhi’s air became more toxic on Saturday. There is no sign of improvement in the deteriorating climate of Delhi-NCR.

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has advised children, the elderly and pregnant women not to step out of the house after the level of air pollution reached the severe category.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held an emergency meeting today to tackle air pollution.

Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Health Minister Satyendar Jain, Environment Minister Gopal Rai and Delhi Chief Secretary attended the meeting which was held by Arvind Kejriwal.

After the meeting, it was decided that the schools would remain closed for a week from Monday. Only virtual classes will run.

CM Kejriwal also said that the reason for the closure of the school for the children is that they should come in contact with the least polluted air. Stay away from air pollution.

The construction activity will be stopped from 14-17 November. If the work of government offices is being done from home, then the offices will remain closed.

Talking to the media, Kejriwal said that we are considering the lockdown in Delhi. We are making a proposal as to what to do to tackle pollution. Taking everyone into confidence, we will inform the Supreme Court.

Although the decision of lockdown has not been taken yet, the situation is being monitored at present.

We all have faced big troubles, it is a question of everyone’s health, I hope the people of Delhi will understand the drastic step we are taking and will accept that it is necessary.
