BJP leader V Muraleedharan on recent land slides

BJP leader V Muraleedharan criticized the Kerala government’s handling of the recent landslides in Wayanad, stating that the state is paying the price for the government’s casual approach.

Muraleedharan pointed out that the Ministry of Home Affairs issued warnings to the state government on July 23, 24, 25, and 26, but they were ignored.

The area has been identified as ecologically sensitive, but over 300 illegal construction projects have been allowed, contributing to the disaster.

The disaster has sparked a political blame game, with Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan refuting Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s assertion that the state was warned about the potential natural calamity. As per reports from ANI, the BJP leader said, ” Home Minister Amit Shah in the Rajya Sabha very specifically mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government stands with the people of Kerala like a rock and there can be no doubt about that.”

Despite the challenges, rescue operations are ongoing, with the Indian Army intensifying its efforts to rescue people stranded after the landslides.

The landslides have resulted in 167 confirmed deaths, with 96 victims identified, including 77 men, 67 women, and 22 children.

The Kerala government has set up relief camps, and financial aid is being mobilized for the affected region.
