Chaos at Hathras: Opposition targets Yogi over Hathras incident

A serene religious gathering turned into a scene of chaos and tragedy on Tuesday in Mughalgarhi’s Phulrai village. The event, organized by the spiritual leader known as Bhole Baba, drew an overwhelming crowd of around 80,000 devotees. Sadly, what began as a peaceful satsang ended in a deadly stampede, claiming over 10 lives, including innocent women and children.

The incident occurred between 3:00 PM and 3:30 PM when devotees, eager to catch a glimpse of Bhole Baba, surged forward as the spiritual leader descended from the stage after his address. The sudden rush caused panic and confusion, leading to the tragic stampede. While Bhole Baba managed to exit safely, many of his followers were not as fortunate, becoming trapped and trampled in the chaos.

The Uttar Pradesh government has vowed to take strict action against those responsible for this disaster. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his deep sorrow over the incident, labeling it as both unfortunate and condemnable. He assured the public that the state is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the stampede and to uncover any potential conspiracy behind it. “This is a time to stand with the affected families and provide solace to the wounded hearts,” Adityanath stated, criticizing any political exploitation of the tragedy.

Adityanath emphasized the government’s commitment to justice, promising that those found guilty would face severe consequences. “The state government is sensitive to this matter and will not spare any wrongdoers,” he affirmed, highlighting the ongoing probe into whether the incident was a tragic accident or a deliberate act.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also expressed her condolences on social media, saying, “My heart goes out to the families of the deceased. I offer my sincere condolences to the grieving relatives.”

As investigations continue, the community mourns the loss of lives in what should have been a moment of spiritual solace. This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety and crowd management at large gatherings.
