Chennai Beat Punjab by 28 Runs on the Lap Of The Himalayas

Earlier, Punjab Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first against Chennai Super Kings in match 53 of IPL 2024 at the picturesque HPCA Stadium.
Leg-spinner Rahul Chahar and medium pacer Harshal Patel picked up three wickets apiece as Punjab Kings produced a disciplined bowling effort to restrict Chennai Super Kings to a modest 167 for 9 on Sunday in Dharamsala.

Jadeja (43), skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (32) and Daryl Mitchell (30) got starts for CSK but failed to transform their knocks into big scores.

Chahar (3/23) and Harshal (4/24) stood out with the ball for PBKS, while stand-in captain Sam Curran (1/34) and Arshdeep Singh (2/42) also registered their names in the wicket-takers list.

But, their bowling efforts were all set to go to waste as PBKS collapsed against the CSK in the second innings.

Top-scoring for Chennai with the bat (43 off 26 balls), all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja bagged three wickets to set up Chennai’s comfortable win over Punjab. Jadeja removed Curran and Ashutosh in the same over. The former CSK skipper shared six wickets with Mitchell Santner (1), Tushar Deshpande (2), Simarjeet Singh (1) and Shardul Thakur (1) to make sure PBKS posted only 139-9 in 20 overs. With the 28-run win over PBKS, Chennai have climbed to third spot on the IPL 2024 points table.
