KKR Celebrates Bengali New Year With Their Fourth Victory

Kolkata Knight Riders were at number two in the league table with 3 wins in the first four matches of IPL 2024. KKR had a chance to hold on to second place if they beat Lucknow Supergiants at the Eden. However, Shreyas Iyer would have to go backwards in the league table if he lost. Because opponents Lucknow Super Giants were fourth in the league table before the Eden clash, but they were level on points with KKR.

Lucknow was behind Kolkata only in terms of net run-rate. A win for LSG at the Eden would have seen them overtake KKR on points. In that case, Lokesh Rahula would have jumped behind Shreyas in the points list. However, KKR had the last laugh at Eden’s defeat. They created a point gap over Lucknow.

In response to Lucknow Super Giants’ 161 runs for 7 wickets, KKR took a one-sided victory. They collected the required 162 runs in 15.4 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. That is, KKR won the match by 8 wickets with 26 balls to spare. Phil Sost remained unbeaten on 89 off 47 balls. He hit 14 fours and 3 sixes. Shreyas Iyer was not out by scoring 38 runs off 38 balls. He hit 6 fours. Bishnoi spent 17 runs in 2.4 overs.
