Punjab Big Win over Chennai as Spinners Dominate at Chepauk

PBKS’ superb bowling effort capped by a comfortable 163-run chase helped them upstage CSK by 7 wickets at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday.

Jonny Bairstow (46) and Rilee Rossouw (43) guide Punjab Kings to a clinical 7-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings. The two batters made the chase a cakewalk for Punjab. Meanwhile, Shashank Singh and Sam Curran took the team over the line with two overs to spare.

Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a fighting 62-run knock to help Chennai Super Kings post a challenging 162/7 in 20 overs. Rahul Chahar (2/16) and Harpreet Brar (2/17) spun their web to trouble Chennai Super Kings batters in the middle overs.

Punjab had a reasonable start with 52 runs.Consistent boundary-hitting and controlled scoring kept the required run rate in check. Although Bairstow was dismissed in the tenth over, Rossouw’s form prevented any panic. Punjab controlled the game with wickets in hand, while Sam Curran and Shashank Singh comfortably led the team to their fourth win of the season.
