Rain is expected in South Bengal from Sunday, providing some reprieve from heatwave: IMD

Light rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning occurred in the southern districts of North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Puraba Midnapore and Paschim Midnapore on Thursday.

The maximum temperature in South Bengal is expected to drop by two to three degrees Celsius over the course of the next five days, according to the India Meteorological Department‘s (IMD) forecast, and also predicted light rain in some districts starting on Sunday.

Meanwhile, six districts including Paschim Medinipur, Jhargram, Bankura, Purba and Paschim Bardhaman, and Birbhum, continue to remain on red alert and are likely to experience severe heatwave conditions till Tuesday, said the Met department.
