Train Derailment in Jharkhand

18 coaches of the Howrah-Mumbai Express train derailed in Jharkhand‘s Chakradharpur division at around 3:45 a.m. on July 30, 2024 . The accident occurred near Barabamboo, around 80 km from Jamshedpur.

Six people were injured in the accident and were provided medical aid in Barabamboo . They were later taken to Chakradharpur for further treatment . There are conflicting reports on the number of casualties, with some sources stating two persons were killed.

A rescue operation was launched following the incident, with the Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME) team, along with staff and the Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) from Chakradharpur, on site.

The cause of the accident is still unclear, but there are reports that a freight train was also involved in the mishap. The incident occurred when a passenger train collided with derailed wagons from a goods train that had derailed on the same section two days earlier.
