Untraceable Evidence: Sheena Bora Murder Case Proceeds Despite Missing Remains

In a significant development in the Sheena Bora murder case, the prosecution informed the special CBI court that the remains purportedly belonging to the victim, sent for examination in 2012, are now “untraceable”. The bones, skin pieces, and hair were originally sent to JJ Hospital by the Pen police following the discovery of Sheena Bora’s alleged murder and disposal of her body in a forest in Raigad district’s Pen tehsil.

Despite the untraceability of these crucial remains, CBI sources maintain confidence in their case, citing the prior examination of experts who conducted DNA analysis on the recovered materials. The DNA reports have already been presented in court, corroborating the identity of Sheena Bora. Additionally, forensic examinations including superimposition of the skull have further reinforced the findings.

The accused in this high-profile case include Sheena Bora’s mother, Indrani Mukerjea, her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna, and their driver Shyamwar Rai, who has turned approver in the case. The motive behind the alleged murder, according to CBI, stems from Indrani Mukerjea’s disapproval of Sheena’s relationship with Rahul Mukerjea, son of her former husband Peter Mukerjea, also an accused in the case.

While the disappearance of the physical evidence poses a challenge, the prosecution remains steadfast with their available evidence and testimonies. Indrani Mukerjea, Peter Mukerjea, and Sanjeev Khanna are presently out on bail as legal proceedings continue to unfold in the trial court.
