Women in Blue beat Pakistan by 7 wickets in Dambulla

Asia Cup T20I 2024 a combined bowling effort from India restricted Pakistan to 108 in the first innings after Pakistan skipper Nida Dar won the toss and opted to bowl first in good conditions to bat.

Thanks to a blistering opening partnership between Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana India won the game by seven wickets with 35 balls to spare in their opening game against Pakistan in the Women’s Asia Cup T20 2024 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on Friday.

After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first in the favorable circumstances to bat, Pakistan captain Nida Dar was bowled out for 108 by an amalgamated bowling effort from India during the first innings.

With the result, India register their first win of the campaign in the Asia Cup. Harmanpreet Kaur’s team will meet UAE on Sunday at the same venue at 2:00 PM.

Opting to bat first, Pakistan were bowled out for 108 with experienced spinner Deepti Sharma (3/20) emerging as the most successful bowler.

Renuka Singh (2/14) and Pooja Vastrakar (2/31) also chipped in with wickets at crucial juncture to keep Pakistan on a tight leash through their innings.

In reply, India completed the chase in 14.1 overs with the opening duo of Smriti Mandhana (45) and Shafali Verma (40) putting on 85 runs in 9.1 overs.
