Delhi Earn Narrow Win to Remains Alive in Playoffs Race

Pressure levels up with today’s 64th match of IPL between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

With Delhi Capitals having secured victory in six out of their 13 matches, the upcoming game presents a crucial opportunity for them to enhance their chances of making it to the playoffs. Led by Rishabh Pant, the Delhi squad has exhibited strong form recently, emerging victorious in three of their last five encounters.

Delhi Capitals sealed a crucial 19-run win against Lucknow Super Giants in a crucial do-or-die IPL 2024 clash, on Tuesday. The win keeps DC in contention for playoffs and LSG also have an extra game in hand. Chasing 209, LSG crumbled at 189/9 in 20 overs, with Ishant Sharma taking three wickets for LSG. Meanwhile, Nicholas Pooran top-scored for LSG, smacking 61 off 27 balls. Arshad Khan also got an unbeaten fifty, smacking 58* off 33 balls.

Initially, Delhi Capitals posted 208/4 in 20 overs. Despite a duck from Jake Fraser-McGurk, Abishek Porel (58) and Tristan Stubbs (57*) got half-centuries as DC set a target of 209 runs. Meanwhile, Naveen-ul-Haq struck twice for LSG.

Speaking after the game, Player of the Match Ishant said, “The last few games I was trying to bowl a knuckle ball. Even in the last game I got Virat out and today KL. I don’t think much. I take it as it comes everyday. If my body is alright, I should thank Patrick [Farhart]. I had some injuries. After the defeats, we were positive and there was belief as well. If you win close games, it gives you confidence to take the momentum forward.”
