Intense Weather Patterns Grip India: Dust Storms, Heatwaves, and Rainfall Predicted Across Regions

IMD predicts Dust storm likely today in Rajasthan; very likely to prevail over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh. Odisha to witness heatwave; IMD issues yellow alert

The weather forecast suggests Dust storm/ thundersquall of speed 50-60 kmph very likely over Rajasthan on 13th April, 2024.
Strong surface winds 20-30 kmph very likely to prevail over Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and Uttar Pradesh during 16th-18th April, 2024.

Additionally IMD has issued yellow alert for heatwave in Odisha on April 15 and 16.

IMD’s press release stated, “An intense Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation lies over Iran in middle & upper tropospheric westerlies. High moisture feeding from Arabian Sea is likely into Northwest India during 13th-15th April.”

Thus under the influence of such weather conditions, IMD predicted light to moderate rainfall or snowfall over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds until April 15.

Moreover, the weather department noted wet spell with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds for the Gangetic belt as well. The states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan will experience such weather conditions until April 15.

Moving towards the South, the Weather Department suggests hot and humid weather very likely to prevail over Kerala & Mahe during 12th-16th; over Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam during 12th-14th, Tamil Nadu, Coastal Karnataka during 14th-16th; Odisha on 14th and Konkan & Goa and Saurashtra & Kutch on 15th & 16thApril.
