IPL 2024 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai where SRH were restricted to a score of 175/9 but a masterful bowling performance led by spinners Shahbaz Ahmed and Abhishek Sharma meant that RR could only score 139/7. SRH face Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 final on Sunday in Ahmedabad. They are chasing their second IPL title, the first since 2016.
RR captain Sanju Samson earlier won the toss and chose to bowl first against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second qualifier of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL). Trent Boult dismissed Abhishek Sharma off last ball of the very first over and he picked up two more wickets in his next. SRH kept their strike rate up and had scored over 60 runs in the powerplay, largely thanks to Rahul Tripathi, but they also lost three wickets in that period. Heinrich Klaasen and Travis Head put up a partnership of 42 runs off 30 balls but the latter fell to Sandeep Sharma in the 10th over just as the stand was starting to look dangerous.
RR kept chipping away at the SRH batting lineup leading to their strike rate finally beginning to stall towards the start of the death overs. Heinrich Klaasen and Shahbaz Ahmed then powered a bit of a rearguard act with a partnership of 43 runs in 25 balls. Klaasen scored 50 in 34 balls but was cleaned up by the brilliant Sandeep Sharma first ball of the 19th over.
Now Sunrisers will play IPL 2024 finals with Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday at the same venue. This is the fourth time Hyderabad city reach their IPL final and SRH make their third.
Though not a very huge target, Royals could manage to score only 139 and apart from Dhruv Jurel’s unbeaten 56 and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 42 runs, no other batter could score more than 10 runs.
For SRH, Shahbaz Ahmed picked 3 wickets, Abhishek Sharma took 2, while Pat Cummins and T Natarajan clinched one wicket each.
